CBA Names All-Star Coaches
January 14, 2008 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1) News Release
ALBANY, NY (January 14, 2008) - The Continental Basketball Association today announced that Yakama Sun Kings head coach Paul Woolpert and Minot Skyrockets head coach Chris Daleo will once again pilot the CBA's top talent, as both men will coach their conference's respective All-Star teams at the 2008 CBA All-Star Classic on January 22, 2008 in Yakima, Washington. Woolpert's Yakama Sun Kings have a 21-1 record, the strongest start ever to a CBA season; while Daleo's 17-6 record is tops in the CBA's American Conference.
This will be the fourth All-Star coaching stint for both men; Woolpert has a 2-1 record in the All-Star Classic, having coached the 2000, 2006 and 2007 games, winning the last two contests. Daleo has a 1-2 record in the CBA's showcase game, patrolling the sidelines in the 2003, 2005 and 2006 All-Star Classics, and winning the 2005 game in Gary, Ind. This will also be the second time Woolpert and Daleo have coached against each other in the All-Star Game; in 2006, Woolpert's Western Conference All-Stars surpassed Daleo's Eastern Conference All-Stars 119-110.
Woolpert has a chance not only to tie Eric Musselman's record for most All-Star Game coaching victories with three wins (Musselman won the 1990, 1992 and 1997 All-Star Games), he could also become the first head coach to win three consecutive All-Star Classics.
Daleo's American Conference team will be announced on Tuesday, January 15 with the National Conference team being announced on Wednesday, January 16 for Woolpert.
