Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry News Release

LAWTON, OKLA.- Chalking up its fourth straight win, the Oklahoma Cavalry defeated the Great Falls Explorers 115-99. The Cavs won all four quarters claiming all seven quarter points for the first time this season.

After falling behind early in the first quarter, the Cavs surged ahead and took an eight-point lead into halftime up 54-46.

The Cavs were in control through the third quarter, but after pulling ahead 89-77 the Explorers went on a 6-0 run to close the gap to six points. Just as the Explorers were starting to make a comeback, the Cavs capitalized on a steal by Curtis Haywood who then passed the ball to Darold Crow for a crowd-pleasing dunk sealing the game.

Oklahoma Cavalry Head Coach Michael Ray Richardson said it was another great win and contributed the win to great defensive play.

"We took care of the basketball and only had 13 turnovers," Coach Richardson said. "We played great defense and were able to win all four quarters. The only way we can stay close to Yakama (Sunkings) is to win the quarter points, and if we take care of the basketball we'll be able to do that."

Daryan Selvy led all Cavalry scorers and earned a double-double with 30 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Albert Robinson had another great game with 27 points and Curtis Haywood contributed 21 points with 7 assists. Darold Crow chipped in 12 points.

Six Explorers players scored in double-digits led by Najeeb Echols with 20 points. Keith Salscheider contributed 15 points and Nate Green chipped in 14 points. Nate Johnson and Cody Toppert had 13 points each, and William Maupins rounded out the leaders with 10 points.

Coached by NBA All-Star Scott Wedman, who is also a former Kansas City Kings teammate of Oklahoma Cavalry President and GM Otis Birdsong, the Explorers will face-off with the Cavs again tomorrow night at the Great Plains Coliseum at 7:30 p.m. as the Cavs look to keep their winning streak alive.
