Cavaliers Call-Up Dickens and Thomas

NEW YORK, Feb. 22, 2008 - The Cleveland Cavaliers today called up Colorado 14ers teammates Kaniel Dickens and Billy Thomas. Dickens and Thomas are the 13th and 14th GATORADE Call-Ups this season and the 103rd and 104th in league history.

Thomas, who previously earned a call-up by the New Jersey Nets, is averaging 15.7 points, 3.7 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 36.9 minutes in 27 games (all starts) with the 14ers. Thomas scored two points during his first call-up this season, a four-game stint with the Nets (Dec. 24 - Jan. 7). Prior to the 2007-08 season, Thomas played 25 games with New Jersey during the 2004-05 season, when he averaged 3.7 points and 1.4 rebounds per game. During the 2005-06 season, Thomas appeared in 17 games with the Washington Wizards. In total, Thomas holds NBA career averages of 2.8 points and 1.1 rebounds in 46 games.

Dickens a forward who was selected in the second round of the 2000 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz, is averaging 20.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 31.1 minutes in 29 games (28 as a starter). A first-year 14er, Dickens previously earned a call-up to the Los Angeles Clippers as a member of the Fayetteville Patriots during the 2005-06 season. Additionally, he signed a 10-day contract with the Nets during the 2004-05 season, however he was not a teammate of Billy Thomas in New Jersey that year.

Thomas and Dickens were both selected by D-League fans and coaches to participate in the 2008 D-League All-Star Game presented by Spalding as part of NBA All-Star festivities in New Orleans.

The duo will join Cleveland when the team hosts the Washington Wizards tonight at Quicken Loans Arena.
