Fort Worth Cats News Release

The Fort Worth Cats will honor Carl Erskine May 19 at LaGrave Field when the organization makes him the first inductee into the Cats' hall of fame know as the Legend of LaGrave.

Erskine pitched for the Cats in 1948 and '49, compiling a 25-11 record in that span. He later went on to collect 122 career wins in the big leagues including two no-hitters and a 20-win season in 1953. Erskine also won two World Series games for the Brooklyn Dodgers.

One of his biggest career highlights, Erskine said, was being the Opening Day starter in 1948 when the Cats defeated Oklahoma City to start that season.
