Cats sign outfielder Jordan Foster

The Fort Worth Cats have signed Arlington-native and former University of Lamar standout Jordan Foster to a contract for the 2005 season.

Foster, 23, was selected in the 24th round of the 2004 draft by the Detroit Tigers organization. He played 19 games with the Tigers' Gulf Coast League affiliate batting .213 with one homer and nine runs batted in.

Foster played college ball at Lamar University in Beaumont where he batted .363 in with nine home runs and 44 RBI in 2004. Playing in 57 games with the Cardinals, Foster slugged 13 doubles and stole 11 bases in 15 attempts

He had a sensational 2003 campaign setting Lamar single-season records for average (.417), hits (96) and doubles (29). For his efforts, he was named a Collegiate Baseball First-Team All American and USA Today Sports Weekly First Team All-American.

Foster played high school baseball at Nolan Catholic in Fort Worth. He was named First Team All-State in both his sophomore and senior seasons.
