Cats Ofense Explodes Early as They Grab a Big Win at Home
July 29, 2019 - New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL)
North Adams SteepleCats News Release
The Cats looked to bounce back from a tough home loss against the Nighthawks in their 2nd to last home game against the New Bedford Bay Sox. The offense jumped out to an early lead as Matt Koperniak doubled home a pair of runs in the first to open the scoring. Then in the 2nd inning the Cats really poured it on as they sent 13 batters to the plate and scored 8 runs in the inning increasing their lead to an early 10-0 mark after just 2 innings. However, the Bay Sox would chip away at the lead and made it a 7 run game heading into the 9th inning. The 9th inning started with a score of 13-6, but the Sox would push the Cats past their comfort zone as the Sox would bring the tying run to the plate as the final out was finally recorded by James Flahive to finish this one off. The Cats would hang on to win by a final score of 13-10. They now stand a game above Upper Valley and a game and a half above Keene. The selected players and the Cats coaching staff will be at the All-Star game tomorrow.
