Fort Worth Cats News Release

Center fielder Cody Bishop and the rest of the Fort Worth Cats offense exploded for 13 runs on 14 hits to defeat the Edinburg Roadrunners 13-2 in game one of the United League Championship.

The Cats (1-0) got started early by scoring two runs in the first and one in the second.

Fort Worth didn't score again until the fifth inning when David Bergin blasted a two-run homer over the left field foul pole to make it 5-0.

The home run was Bergin's first of the postseason and 20th of the season overall.

However, the Cats did not let up, adding eight more runs in the next three innings.

Bishop finished the night 5-for-5 with four singles, a double, a walk, three runs scored and six runs batted in.

Cats' starter Cole Stephens went the distance, giving up two runs on seven hits. He also struck out six Edinburg batters and did not walk anyone.

Three of the Roadrunners' (0-1) hits and both runs came in the ninth inning.

The only Cats' batter that failed to reach base was catcher Chris Christopoulos.

With the win, the Cats are only two wins away from taking home the ULB Championship.

Game two of the series is set for Friday at 7:05 p.m. and game three will be Saturday at the same time. Games four and five will be played the following days, if needed.

Postseason tickets can be purchased by calling (817) 332-CATS or by going online to FWCats.com.
