Cats Grab Big Win at Home against Valley

July 2, 2019 - New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL)
North Adams SteepleCats News Release

On a night where two teams that were looking to get back in the win column in a very congested northern division were meeting up the Cats handed the ball to the electric left-handed pitching Mason Ronan. Ronan would dance out of trouble in the first and the only blemish on his day would be a solo shot he gave up to start the 2nd inning. Besides that Ronan would go 5 innings allowing only a handful of hits and striking out 9 batters on the day gave his team a chance to win. The offense would strike early with 3 runs in the first thanks in large part to a two out, two run single by Josh Loeffler. Loeffler would tally three hits on the night and the Cats would add 3 more runs again in the third to take a 5 run lead. Cole Patten impressed out of the bullpen as he went three solid innings and served it up for Abbott to shut the door in the 9th inning as the Cats would secure a 7-4 victory with the exclamation point to be delivered on a solo blast by Paul Komistek as he annihilated a ball over the left-field fence. The Cats are now back in first place and will have a day off tomorrow as they will play host to the Vermont Mountaineers on July 4th. There will be fireworks after the game, but the Cats will look to provide some fireworks of their own as they will look to build off of a big win tonight at The Joe.
