The Friday the 13th Cats' Home Opener at LaGrave Field was extra special for Jim Bailey of Grapevine, Texas. With the Cats 13-3 victory over Edinburg, Bailey won $13,000 in a promotion held by the team. As part of the promotion, the Cats vowed to give away $13,000 if the team scored exactly 13 runs in its Friday, May 13 Home Opener.
Carlos Adolfo scored on a wild pitch in the seventh inning for the 13th run of the game. Out of the 6,462 fans in attendance Friday night, it was Bailey whose ticket stub was drawn to give him the 13 grand.
