
Aviators rally, win in 10 innings

Coastal Bend Aviators News Release
SHREVEPORT, La. â The Coastal Bend Aviators rallied in the top of the ninth inning then went on to win game one of a three-game series against the Shreveport Sports, 7-6, in 10 innings..
In the first inning Aviator's left fielder Matt Mann tripled to lead off the game. Mike Guerrero hit a single to center field scoring Mann, making the score 1-0.
Jack Joffrion hit a RBI double to center in the third inning, making the score 2-0.
Chad Gambill then hit a two-run homer for Shreveport in the bottom of the fourth inning giving the Sports the lead 3-2.
Down 6-2 in the top of the ninth the Aviators rallied to tie the game. Stephen Morales hit a sacrifice fly cutting the lead to 6-3. Joffrion followed with a three-run homer that tied the game at six.
Edwin Maldonado hit a RBI single in the top of the 10th inning putting the Aviators ahead 7-6.
James Lira (2-0) pitched two perfect innings, striking out four batters, to pick up the win. Eric Wikstrom (0-2) took the loss for Shreveport in relieve.
The Aviators continue the series at Shreveport tomorrow at 7:05. The Aviators will be back home on Friday, May 20th to take on Shreveport in a three-game series. Tickets are available through the Aviator's Website, www.aviatorsbaseball.com or call (361)-387-8585.
