
'Cats Drop Series Opener in Schaumburg

SCHAUMBURG, IL - The Tri-City ValleyCats arrived in Schaumburg looking to get back on the right track against the defending Frontier League champions after being handed their first series loss of the season by the Washington Wild Things.
The 'Cats sent LHP Oddy Nuñez to the mound. The southpaw would only last 2.2 IP, allowing 13 runs on 5 hits. Right-hander Troy Cruz would enter in relief in the 3rd and finish out the game for the Tri-City ValleyCats.
Schaumburg's Shumpei Yoshikawa no-hit the 'Cats for the first 6.2 innings of the game before giving up a two-run home run to Tri-City infielder Juan Santana. The only other Tri-City hit would be a Denis Phipps double.
