Edinburg starter Kyle Wilson had a no-hitter going thru eight innings but was broken up in the ninth, but it didn't matter as the Edinburg Roadrunners defeated the Fort Worth Cats by a score of 6-1 at Edinburg Baseball Stadium on Tuesday night. Wilson (1-0) threw a complete game two hitter to master the Cats offense the only damage allowed was in the ninth inning when Greg Bachman hit a ground rule double to break it up. Bachman would score on an RBI single by Dave Bergin and broke up the shutout in the process for the Cats (8-4). The Roadrunners (4-8) were lead by Fernando de los Santos who went 4-for-4 with two runs including an RBI double in the fifth inning. Cats starter Eric Sheridan struggled in his third start, as five earned runs were surrendered.
Fort Worth will enjoy a day off before hosting the San Angelo Colts at LaGrave Field Thursday night to begin a four-game series. The Colts and Cats are currently leading the United League standings, with the Cats currently only one game and a half ahead of the Colts. The opening game of the series will headline Thirsty Thursday, where beer and soda are just two dollars.
