
Catfish Throttle Intimidators 13-2 for Sweep

Columbus, GA - The Columbus Catfish (26-28) did everything necessary to complete a four-game sweep of the Kannapolis Intimidators (18-34) Friday at Golden Park. The offense collected 12 hits on the way to a 13-2 win.
Both starting pitchers dueled to a 1-1 tie after five and a half innings before Columbus opened up the game with seven runs in the sixth inning. In the sixth the Catfish used four hits and three walks to gain an 8-1 advantage. They added one run in the seventh inning and four in the eighth to put the game out of reach.
2B Travis Denker finished 3-for-5 with three RBI, three runs and his fourth home run in four games. It was his 10th dinger of the season. Leadoff man CF Bridger Hunt was 3-for-4 with one double, one RBI and one run. 1B David Sutherland chipped in a 2-for-3 night with one double, three RBI and two runs.
RHP Joe Jones (1-1) kept the Intimidators in the rear view mirror. He gave up two runs, just one of which was earned, in the first 7 2/3 innings. Jones allowed just three hits and three walks while striking out six.
Next the Catfish head on the road for a four-game series with the Rome Braves. Columbus will return to Golden Park Thursday, August 24 to start an eight-game home stand against the Charleston RiverDogs and the Rome Braves.
