June 23, 2005 - Pioneer League (PL)
Casper Ghosts News Release
Last night the Casper Rockies - Idaho Falls Chukars game had a little bit of everything for the fans. The Chukars began the game with an RBI double from Shawn Hayes off of Rockies starter Xavier Cedeno. Idaho Falls picked up another run in the 2nd for a 2-0 lead after the 2nd inning.
The Rockies bats then woke up in the 3rd erupting for three runs on four hits to capture their first lead of 2005. The Chukars scored again in the 4th inning on an RBI single from Brady Everett. In the home half of the 5th Casper blasted Chukars righty Mitch Goings for three runs on four more hits. The highlight of the inning came off the bat of third baseman Daniel Mayora, who tripled to right.
Following the Rockies three-run inning, rain put a halt to the game for 25 minutes before play resumed. With the Rockies leading 6-3 in the 7th the Chukars showed their power yet again taking reliever Byron Binda deep twice. Andrew Larsen led off the 7th with a solo blast and then Felix Peguero hit a 2-run blast that tied the game at 6-6 before the rains came yet again, putting a permanent halt to the evening.
The Rockies will bat in the bottom of the 7th when the game resumes today at 6:05. The regularly scheduled 7:05 game will begin following the completion of the suspended game.
