Casper Ghosts Announce "Mullet Militia Night"
August 27, 2010 - Pioneer League (PL)
Casper Ghosts News Release
Casper- The Casper Ghosts, the Pioneer league affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, are pleased to announce "Kyle Hancock's Mullet Militia Night" on Monday August 30, 2010. The first 50 fans that come through the gates who have a mullet will receive a black tee shirt with the pitcher's image and emblazoned with the words "Hancock's Mullet Militia". Seasons Day Spa will be on hand to cut the hair of any interested fans and they will also be eligible for tee shirts. There will be a contest for the best mullet during the game.
Ghosts starting pitcher Kyle Hancock, who has been sporting the rather bizarre haircut all season long, feels he has found an unusual way to raise money for his favorite charity.
"I got the idea from (Colorado Rockies starting shortstop) Troy Tulowitzki who is doing something similar with the big league club" Hancock said when asked about his inspiration for the event. " I saw what he did and just thought it was great and I wanted to see if we could do it here and maybe raise some money for a great cause" he added.
The non-profit group that Hancock chose to highlight is the USO. Hancock's friend Ryan Nance is currently serving in Afganistan and is never far from Hancock's thoughts.
"What the USO does for these guys overseas just means the world to them and I just felt that any little thing I could do to help would be great" Hancock told his friends and teammates. Fans will be able to donate directly to the USO at the game or they can donate online at uso.org.
