
Caruana Called Up To AHL Portland

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that forward Matt Caruana has been called up to the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.
Caruana makes his first trip to the AHL this season and his third trip to the AHL in his professional career. Caruana returns to Portland where he began his professional career in 2007-08. Caruana appeared in 41 games last season with the Iowa Chops.
In 11 games this season with the Gladiators, Caruana has posted 6 goals and 2 assists for 8 points. He has also notched 1 power play goal for the Gladiators. Last season, Cauana notched 5 goals and 6 assists in 18 points with the Bakersfield Condord.
Prior to beginning his professional career, Caruana skated four seasons at Niagara University posting 129 points in 146 career collegiate games.
The Gladiators continue their 7th season in the ECHL tonight at home against Elmira at 7:05 p.m. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and Columbus Blue Jackets and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
