The Carolina Cougarz of the Continental Basketball League held tryouts this past weekend in Fayetteville, NC with plenty of solid talent to be found.
Team owner and Head Coach Wayne Washington said, "All things considered, we had a good tryout and saw some solid talent. Unfortunately, our turnout was low because of a couple of misprints in our print ad. This is something I take full responsibility for." Washington continued to say, "Despite this, we had about 25 guys show up and we really put them through their paces. Many of the guys came in with college experience which gave us a good talent pool to work with. I think we will see probably four or five guys out of this tryout who will make our final ten man roster."
As a result of the miscommunication with the local newspaper, the team plans to have another tryout on a date and time to be determined. At the second tryout Washington expects to have a larger turnout with even more talent to choose from.
The Continental Basketball League is a five team league with teams in Fayetteville, NC; Savannah, GA; Marietta, GA; Wilmington, NC and Birmingham, AL and will play a 16 game schedule.
