Carolina Cougarz News Release

The Carolina Cougarz of the Continental Basketball League are pleased to announce the signing of guard Travis Winstead to a one year contract. Owner Wayne Washington made the announcement on Monday.

Winstead is a 6'1 guard out of Methodist University in Fayetteville. Travis made the Embry-Riddle Tournament's All-Tournament Team as a junior and had a season high 21 points against Embry-Riddle. As a senior, he spent the first part of the season on the injured list but came back in the latter part of the season to make a significant contribution to the Monarchs squad. For his career at Methodist, Winstead averaged 5.8 points and one steal a game while shooting 43% from the floor.

Owner/Head Coach Wayne Washington says of Winstead's signing, "I think Travis is a great ball handler and a solid leader on the court. Travis can play both the shooting guard and point guard positions which gives him great versatility. Washington continued by saying, "Character wise, we won't get much better. Travis graduated with a 3.4 gpa and has his teaching license in Physical Education."

The Carolina Cougarz are part of the five team Continental Basketball League that tips off April 30th. For Cougarz season ticket information, go to www.carolinacougarz.com. For more information on the Continental Basketball League, go to www.cblhoopsonline.com.
