Methodist alumnus Travis Winstead led four players in double figures with a game high 29, and Carolina's defense tightened up in the last two minutes as the Cougarz defeated Savannah 97-94 in Continental Basketball League play on Saturday night. With the victory, the Cougarz move to 2-1 on the year.
For the Cougarz, Bradford Deshazor added 21 points and Marco Spears added 12. For Savannah, Dominique Williams and Brian Moultre had 24 points each. With the loss, Savannah drops to 1-1 on the season.
The Cougarz are back in action on Thursday as they head to Atlanta to take on the Georgia Gwizzlies. The Cougarz return home to the Riddle Center on Saturday night as they take on the Birmingham Steel in a 7:00 start. For ticket information, go to www.carolinacougarz.com.
