Carey Scores Team-Leading 11th Goal

WENATCHEE, Wash. - Ben Carey (Centennial, Colo.) scoredhis team-leading 11th goal of the season on a short breakaway earlyin the third period Friday, but it wasn't enough as the Fairbanks Ice Dogs skated to a 4-1 victory at the Town Toyota Center. It was Fairbanks' first winover the Wild this season.

J.T. Osborn gave the Ice Dogs a1-0 lead 51 seconds into the contest when he scored from the far circle afterreceiving a crisp pass from Gabe Levin. Tayler Munson doubled the lead with3:50 remaining before the first intermission when he tapped in a loose puckfrom the near side of the cage.

Levin made it 3-0 with eightminutes left in the second period when he cleaned up a loose puck near the Wildnet during a man-advantage. Osborn picked up his second point of the night withthe only assist.

Carey's goal, scored a littleover four minutes into the third stanza, cut Fairbanks' lead to 3-1. He beatnetminder Alex Fons glove side after TraceRedmond (McKinney, Texas) chipped him a pass from the blue line near thefar wall. Jared Tafoya (HighlandRanch, Colo.) also assisted.

Wenatchee had two power playchances after Carey's goal, but could not get another puck past Fons. Osbornclosed out scoring with 4:40 remaining in regulation when he banged in a powerplay marker on a one-timer from a sharp angle off of a pass from Levin.

Fons made 38 saves on 39 shotswhile Wild netminder Greg Lewis(Mars, Pa.) turned away 13 of the 17 shots he faced.

Osborn (2G, 1A) and Levin (1G,2A) led Fairbanks with three points apiece.

The Wild (9-6-1) will try tosplit the series with the Ice Dogs (11-5-6) Saturday. Faceoff is set for 7:05p.m.
