SAN JOSE (Feb. 25, 2003) – San Jose CyberRays midfielder Carey Dorn announced her retirement today and will enter graduate school.

Dorn, 24, a graduate of the University of Connecticut, said she will return to UConn to pursue a master's degree in sports management.

``It was a difficult decision to make, but after talking to Ian (Sawyers, CyberRays coach) and thinking about some of the other options, I just felt it was time to do something else,'' she said.

Dorn was a starter on the 2001 CyberRays, who won the inaugural WUSA championship. She also created a place in team history by scoring the CyberRays' first goal in the seventh minute of an exhibition match against Beijing F.C. on March 11, 2001.

``Both years were great experiences,'' Dorn said. ``For me, living in Connecticut my whole life, coming to a new part of the country, meeting new people and making new friends was great.''

The CyberRays open preseason training Saturday and open their 2003 season at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 5 against the Philadelphia Charge in Spartan Stadium.
