JUPITER, FL- Brian Martin had two home runs and 5 RBI for the Palm Beach Cardinals, lifting them past the Jupiter Hammerheads 6-1 before a crowd of 1,529 at Roger Dean Stadium. Mike Parisi (3-3) got the win and threw 8 shutout innings for the redbirds, allowing only 4 hits while striking out 8.
Jupiter starter Allen Baxter (0-2) gave up 3 straight singles to start the game, followed by a grand slam homer to left from Martin. Palm Beach would add another run that inning on an RBI double from catcher Brandon Marcelli. Baxter went 4 innings and allowed 5 runs on 7 hits.
The Hammerheads' lone run came in the 9th. Juan Figueroa led off with a triple to center, and scored on an RBI grounder from Angel Molina. Molina is now tied for the league lead in RBI with 71.
Antonio Alfonseca made another rehab appearance with the Hammerheads. Alfonseca pitched the 8th inning for Jupiter and threw 15 pitches, 10 for strikes. He struck out two and did not allow a hit.
The Cardinals now lead the 2005 fins and feathers series 10-6. The Hammerheads begin a west coast swing to Clearwater and Dunedin on Sunday, while Palm Beach remains at the Dean to host the Sarasota Reds.
