New Jersey Cardinals News Release
This evening at Skylands Park in Augusta, New Jersey, the Cardinals (9-10) lost to the Tri-City ValleyCats (14-5), 9-5. Rodrigo Escobar improved to 4-0 for Tri-City, while Mike Parisi (0-2) was saddled with the loss for the Cardinals. Paul Estrada also notched his 4th save of the season.
The Cardinalsbats remained hot as Jake Mullinax went 1-for-4, extending his hitting streak to 10 games. Jake also scored for the 6th straight game on a Marcos Rodriguez ground out in the 4th inning. Chris Patrick also continued his offensive success, by going 1-for 5, extending his hitting streak to 9 games. Casey Grimm had an RBI single in the 5th inning, driving in Sean Dobson who had reached base earlier on a single. Dobsons base hit gave him a hit in 10 of his last 11 games.
Other Cardinals having continued success included Levi Webber who was 1-for-4 putting his current hitting streak at 6 games, and Matt Shepherd who put his hitting streak up to 6 games. Chris Bova worked 2 innings of scoreless relief with 4 strikeouts, 3 of which came in a perfect 8th inning.
The Cardinals are back in action tomorrow night at 7:15 at Skylands Park when they take on the Tri-City ValleyCats in the final game of their three game set. Jason John will take the hill for the Cardinals squaring off against the ValleyCats starter Andrew Alvarado.
