
Cardinals unveil kids reading program

New Jersey Cardinals News Release
The New Jersey Cardinals are excited to team up with Project Self Sufficiency and D&H Alternative Risk Management with a reading program for kids in Northern New Jersey. The program is designed to encourage students to read on their own using incentives that will reward them. The program has five levels. For each level completed students will earn a Cardinals ticket along with other prizes. Students who complete all 5 levels will be honored in a pre-game ceremony.
Students attending kindergarten through grade eight are eligible to participate. The program will run from March 8 through August 20 of this year.
Participants who read:
-1 book (single) receive a Cardinals a decal sticker
-5 books (double) receive Cardinals baseball cards
-10 books (triple) receive a behind the scenes tour of the stadium
-15 books (homerun) receive the opportunity to come in and watch batting practice
-20 books (grandslam) they will have their picture taken with a Cardinals player and
be honored in a pre-game ceremony.
New Jersey Cardinals Vice President and General Manager, Tony Torre said, The Cardinals are excited about this new program. We are grateful to Wayne Dietz of D&H Risk Alternative, Project Self Sufficiency and Roy and Susan Knutson for sponsoring the program. Mr. Dietz has been a long time Cardinals supporter and we thank him for his continued involvement with the club. Roy and Susan Knutson are known throughout the community for their generosity with a number of charities and service clubs. Project Self Sufficiency has been one of their favored causes and we thank them for their support.
Wayne Dietz of D&H Risk Alternative, I am thrilled to enter into this partnership with the Cardinals and Project Self Sufficiency to help give the youth in this area a head start in their education. I love this community and the people in it, this is my way of giving back to it.
