Palm Beach Cardinals News Release
Coming into the night as the top fielding team in all of Single-A, the Palm Beach Cardinals committed an uncharacteristic five errors on Friday night and fell 10-5 to the Jupiter Hammerheads.
The teams combined for 25 hits in the fourth game of this six-game set, as Jupiter took their first game of the week after losing the opening trio of matchups to the Cardinals. Hancel Rincon started on the mound for Palm Beach and was replaced after four and 2/3 innings, with the home team trailing 6-3. However, only two of those runs were earned, with bullpen arms Nelfri Contreras and Diorys Guerrero allowing the remaining three earned runs.
Seven of the nine Cardinal starting position players logged at least one hit on the night. Nathan Church was 2-4 in the leadoff spot. Michael Curialle matched that line while also driving in a fifth-inning run. Thomas Francisco was 3-5 with a double and another fifth-inning RBI, while Leonardo Bernal and Chris Rotondo each drove in runs in the eighth.
The teams are back in action Saturday night for Kids Club night, with a 6:00 p.m. first pitch. The Cardinals remain just one win away from clinching the 25-game 2022 season series against their in-stadium rivals. The Cardinals also remain two games clear atop the Florida State League East Division second-half standings.
