
Captains Begin Seven-Game Home Stand Saturday

(Eastlake, OH) - The Lake County Captains, the class A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, will begin a very important seven-game home stand on Saturday as the club finds itself right in the thick of the Midwest League playoff hunt. The Captains will welcome the Lansing Lugnuts (Blue Jays) and South Bend Silver Hawks (Diamondbacks) who will make their final regular season appearances at Classic Park. The Silver Hawks are currently battling the Captains for the wild card spot in the East Division.
The home stand begins on Saturday at 7 PM with a Fireworks Saturday Night presented by Monreal Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Monreal and the Captains will also announce the winner of the annual Free Funeral Giveaway as part of the post-game festivities.
Saturday is also Ladies Night presented by Malibu Rum, featuring Malibu Rum drink specials for the ladies.
The Captains will be wearing special jerseys on Saturday that were designed by Willoughby native Joshua McKinley, who was the runner-up of Season Nine of Project Runway, the hit reality TV show on Lifetime Television and hosted by supermodel Heidi Klum. The game-worn jerseys will be autographed by the Captains players and coaches and auctioned off with proceeds benefiting OutRun Ovarian Cancer (OROC) and Captains Charities.
Randy Carver and Carver Financial Services, Inc. will be hosting their 25th annual food drive at Classic Park on Saturday as fans attending the game are asked to non- perishable food items to be collected at the entrance gates.
Saturday is also "Go Green Night" and the first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive a Captains Travel Mug presented by the Lake County Solid Waste District.
Sunday is a 1 PM start and is a Family Fun Day, featuring a pre-game player autograph session, expanded in-stadium entertainment and activities, an enhanced Kids' Zone area with new inflatables including a new speed pitch and the opportunity for kids to run the bases after the game.
Sunday is also the Fourth Annual Jewish Heritage Day and Dance Israeli will be performing at the main gates prior to the game. Falafel, potato pancakes and other Israeli delicacies will be available and each participating Temples Rabbi will be throwing out a Ceremonial First Pitch. The Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage will also be in attendance as it promotes the history and culture of the Jewish religion. The Hatikvah and the Star Spangled Banner will be sung and Shawn Fink, from Shalom America Radio, will lead the singing of God Bless America before the Seventh Inning Stretch.
Monday at 7 PM is Buck Night, presented by PNC, featuring $1 Five Star Brand hot dogs, chips, French fries, popcorn, soda and beer. Also, fans receive a $1 discount on their tickets or $2 off their tickets if they use a PNC Bank debit or credit card at purchase.
Tuesday is the final Bark in the Park, presented by Home Savings. Dog owners can bring their dogs to the park when they purchase a $5 pooch pass. A portion of the proceeds from the pooch passes will benefit Lake Humane Society & Adoption Center. Dog owners can purchase their tickets for a special $7 price. Game time is 7 PM.
Feed Your Face Night is Wednesday, featuring a $10 all-you-can-eat food package which includes unlimited hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn and chips throughout the game. Game time is 7 PM.
Thursday the Captains will play a doubleheader against the South Bend Silver Hawks to make up the game that was rained out in South Bend on August 13. The first game of the doubleheader will begin at 6 PM. Tickets for that night will be good for both games.
Thursday is Thirsty Thursday, presented by ESPN 850 WKNR, and will feature a .25-cent beer Happy Hour for one hour before game time and half-price draft beer and fountain soda until 9 PM. Thursday is also Date Night, presented by Fisher's Jewelers at Shoregate, which gives couples the opportunity to purchase two tickets to The Officer's Club Suite and two meal vouchers, a $56 value, for only $30.
The home stand concludes on Friday August 24, with a Fireworks Friday night presented by State Farm Insurance Agent Debbie George and 92.3 FM, The Fan.
The Captains will welcome all super heroes to the ballpark for Super Heroes Night. Youngsters and adults are encouraged to wear their favorite super hero costume to the game. The first 1,500 fans will also receive a Captains Fleece Blanket presented by Lake Health. Game time is 7 PM.
