San Jose Barracuda News Release
San Antonio, TX - The San Jose Barracuda (29-24-8-3, 69pts) presented by Barracuda Networks picked up a much needed point in a 4-3 overtime loss to the host San Antonio Rampage (30-34-8-0, 68pts) in front 6,062 fans at AT&T Center on Wednesday evening. Garry Nunn (4th) scored at 2:11 of the overtime frame on a delayed penalty call with a one timer shot from low in the left wing circle for the game winner.
San Jose came out of the gate flying as captain Bryan Lerg (19th) gave the Barracuda a quick 1-0 lead just 15 seconds into the contest after het snapped a quick shot from on top of the crease past goaltender Reto Berra as John McCarthy and Jeremy Morin each picked up assists. As a Barracuda power play came to a close, Petter Emanuelsson (11th) scored his 3rd goal in four games after he skated out from behind the net and made a nice move past a Rampage defender and slid a quick shot into the net at 12:36. Shots were 12-9 Barracuda through 20 minutes of play as San Jose took a 2-0 advantage into the first intermission.
San Antonio put together a much better charge in the second period as they outshot San Jose 13-6 and scored the period's only goal. Borna Rendulic (15th) deflected a shot past Aaron Dell at 13:40 on the power play to get the Rampage on the board. San Jose led 2-1 through 40 minutes of play.
Ben Street (5th) tied the score at 57 seconds of the third period after a great entry into the zone by Borna Rendulic. The Rampage took a 3-2 lead after Brandon Gormley (3rd) snuck a wraparound past Dell at 5:37. But the Barracuda would tie the score at 3-3 just 14 seconds into their 5th power play as Bryan Lerg (20th) whacked home a rebound at 12:35 to force overtime.
