Walla Walla Sweets News Release
WALLA WALLA, Wash. - With the start of 2014 season of West Coast League baseball just 85 days away, the Walla Walla Sweets front office is hard at work. As the staff works to prepare for Opening Day, presented by Northwestern Mutual, the Sweets are excited to announce that CAPPS Broadcast Group will return as the official radio partner of the team for the 2014, 2015, and 2016 seasons.
"CAPPS was one of the first companies to welcome the Sweets to town. When they came on board in 2010 as the official radio partner they helped ensure that the team could bring quality broadcasts to Sweets fans on the radio and through online streaming," offered Sweets chief operating officer Zachary Fraser. "We have a great relationship with Joe Oertel and the rest of the CAPPS team and are excited to welcome them back for the next three seasons."
Sweets live radio broadcasts will be brought to fans in several mediums, allowing listeners around the country to tune in to Howard Hoffman, the voice of the Sweets. Listeners can tune in through live streaming online, through live streaming via the Sweets mobile application for Apple and Android devices, and through the radio on 1490 and 100.1 ESPN.
"A majority of our players come from out of town, and our partnership with CAPPS allows family and friends to stay up to date with team. It also allows our fans to stay connected when the Sweets travel," said Sweets general manager Katie Baxter.
"We are excited once again to be Walla Walla's radio home for the Sweets," said CAPPS operations manager Joe Oertel. "ESPN Walla Walla is there to make sure fans can catch the game on their radio, via the Sweets app, and via online streaming. CAPPS knows how valuable it is for the station to have the Sweets on our team along with Walla Walla High School and Gonzaga University."
Opening Day, presented by Northwestern Mutual, is scheduled for June 5, 2014 as the Sweets open the fifth season of WCL baseball at Borleske Stadium. Gates open at 6:00 P.M. with first pitch set for 7:05. Sweets fans can tune in to ESPN Walla Walla to catch all the action during the 2014 season. Ticket packages for the Sweets season are on sale now online and at the Sweets Shoppe in downtown Walla Walla.
