Canucks Sign Shannon, MacInytre

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, announced they have signed winger Ryan Shannon and goaltender Drew MacIntyre.

Shannon, 24, appeared in 53 games last season with the Stanley Cup champion Anaheim Mighty Ducks, where he scored two goals and nine assists for 11 points and 10 penalty minutes. The Darien, CT native also appeared in 11 games for the Ducks during their Stanley Cup drive. Shannon also appeared in 14 games in 2006-07 with the AHL's Portland Pirates where he scored two goals and seven assists for nine points and 12 penalty minutes. Shannon was an AHL All-Star and a member of the league's All-Rookie Team in 2005-06 when he scored 27 goals and 59 assists for 86 points and 44 penalty minutes. The Canucks acquired Shannon in a trade with Anaheim in exchange for Jason King on June 23/07.

MacIntyre, 24, set new career highs in his first season with the Moose in 2006-07 as he compiled a record of 24-12-2 in 41 appearances and set new franchise marks for goals against average at 2.17 and save percentage at .922. He finished third in goals against average in the AHL and was fourth in save percentage. In 11 Calder Cup playoff games last year, the Charlottetown, PEI native was 4-6 with a goals against average of 1.99. Overall, MacIntyre has now appeared in 78 career games in the AHL with Grand Rapids and Manitoba since 2004. He has an overall record of 39-24-2 with a goals against average of 2.43 and a save percentage of 1.62.
