
Canucks sign defenceman DiPenta

Today, the Vancouver Canucks, in conjunction with the Manitoba Moose, announced they have agreed to terms on a contract with defenceman Joe DiPenta.
DiPenta, 25, appeared in 73 games last season with the AHL's Chicago Wolves where he recorded six assists along with 105 penalty minutes. In 10 playoff games with the Wolves in 2004, DiPenta scored one goal and recorded 13 penalty minutes.
In his four-year career, DiPenta has played in 296 career games in the American Hockey League with Chicago and the Philadelphia Phantoms. In that time, he has collected seven goals and 41 points as well as 363 penalty minutes.
He has also appeared in 54 AHL post-season games in which he's scored three goals and nine points, along with 57 penalty minutes. DiPenta has played in three NHL games so far in his career, all with the Atlanta Thrashers during the 2002-03 season where he scored a goal and an assist to go along with two penalty minutes.
DiPenta was originally Florida's second choice, 60th overall, in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
