
Canucks re-sign Baumgartner

Today, the Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, announced they have re-signed defenceman Nolan Baumgartner.
Last season, Baumgartner, 28, played in 55 games with the Moose recording six goals and 27 points along with 101 penalty minutes. He also played in nine games with the Canucks where he collected three assists and two penalty minutes. Prior to re-joining the Canucks organization off of waivers on November 1st, 2003, the Calgary, AB native appeared in five games with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Baumgartner has played in 114 career games with the Manitoba Moose from 2002-04, scoring 14 goals and 66 points along with 183 penalty minutes. He was named the team's most outstanding defenceman following the 2002-03 season. In his career, Baumgartner has played in 440 career American Hockey League games over eight seasons with Manitoba, Norfolk, and Portland. In that time, he's scored 43 goals and 205 points. In 48 career NHL games with Washington, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Vancouver, Baumgartner has scored one goal and eight assists.
He was originally drafted by the Washington Capitals with their first choice, 10th overall, in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.
