Canton Charge Finalize Coaching Staff

CANTON - The Canton Charge announced today that Steve Gansey has been named Associate Head Coach, while Mike Batiste will join Nate Reinking as Assistant Coaches on Head Coach Jordi Fernandez's staff. In addition, Adam Linens joins Head Athletic Trainer Mike Gittinger on the team's support staff as Assistant Athletic Trainer. The announcement was made by Cavaliers Director of Development League Operations Mike Gansey and Fernandez.

"I am extremely excited to welcome Steve, Mike, and Adam to the Canton Charge family. As a group, we believe we can provide our players the best resources to grow individually within our collective winning culture." said Fernandez. "The combination of our unique strengths and diverse backgrounds will make us an even stronger group to lead our team this upcoming season." Gansey joins the Charge after spending the last five seasons with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants as an assistant coach and director of player personnel. He was responsible for the team's defensive strategies and substitutions, coordinating practices and off-the-court appearances, scouting opponents, and breaking down game film. Gansey was a member of Fort Wayne's 2013-14 NBA Development League Championship team and also served as interim head coach for 35 games during the 2011-12 season. He has also enjoyed NBA Summer League coaching stints with the D-League Select Team, Indiana Pacers, and the Memphis Grizzlies.

Batiste brings over 14 years of professional playing experience at both the domestic and international levels to the Charge. He is a three-time Euroleague Champion with Panathinaikos (Greece), while earning numerous individual accolades throughout his extensive overseas career. A three-year letterman at Arizona State from 1997-99, Batiste also was a member of the Memphis Grizzlies during the 2002-03 season where he played in 75 games (two starts) and averaged 6.4 points on .422 shooting with 3.4 rebounds in 16.6 minutes per game.

Linens comes to Canton after serving as the strength and conditioning coach for the WNBA's Atlanta Dream for the past three seasons, where he designed and implemented various programs for the team. During his time with the Dream, Linens also served as a strength and conditioning intern for the Atlanta Hawks during the 2013-14 season. He also has previously spent time in the private sector at Performance Training Inc. and Suwanee Sports Academy in Suwanee, Georgia.
