Moncton Magic News Release
The Moncton Magic hosted the Halifax Hurricanes Thursday night for game four of the Atlantic Division Finals. Halifax took the first two at home, then fell to Moncton in a dominant full game press Tuesday night, where the Magic were able to gain some momentum with a 107-96 home victory. This series will determine who plays the winner of the London Lightening vs. St John's Edge matchup for the title.
Halifax took a quick lead in the 1st on Tuesday going up 33-22, the Magic then responded with a 8-2 run to start the 2nd, but couldn't sustain that push, and grabbed just +2 leaving them down 41-50 at half.
The home team then made another extended run in the 3rd going +13 and taking their first lead 70-66. That level of success was soon buffered but the Hurricanes who fought hard through the second half of the 4th taking their lead back. The final minute of the game left the Magic at a 5-point deficit forcing them to foul and try a last ditch effort which just wasn't enough and gave Halifax the 94-87 victory.
Tuesday night's box score was topped by Corey Allmond who averaged just under 60% shooting for 22 points; those stats earned him Player of the Game. Juan Pattillo just trailed with 19 points giving him a 10-reboundsdouble-double.
The visiting Hurricanes were led by Tyrone Watson who dropped a 22-point 10-rebound double-double of his own at the Coliseum. Halifax's win was also supported by numbers from Antoine Mason, Billy White, and Rhamel Brown who put up 16,16 and 15 in that order.
These teams will now take the series back to Halifax to play game five at the Scotiabank Centre Saturday the 28th, then bring it back to the Moncton Coliseum for game six Sunday the 29th. If required a 7th game will have the matchup head back to Halifax Saturday May 5th.
