'Canes Reassign Zach Boychuk To Albany

RALEIGH, NC - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned forward Zach Boychuk to Albany of the American Hockey League (AHL). In a separate move, the Albany River Rats have released forward Yannick Tifu from his Professional Tryout Contract (PTO).

Boychuk, 20, was recalled to the Hurricanes on Friday, and earned an assists in each of the team's two games during his recall. The Airdrie, Alb., native now has three assists in 11 NHL games this season. He ranks second among River Rats skaters with 27 points and is third on the team with 12 goals. Drafted in the first round, 14th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Boychuk totaled 110 goals and 161 assists (271 points) in 237 career Western Hockey League (WHL) games for Lethbridge. Albany travels to Binghamton Wednesday for a 7:05 p.m. match-up with the Senators.
