Candace Parker Named Player of the Week

Candace Parker's shining performance against the Silver Stars on June 1 in San Antonio helped the vet net her 11th career Western Conference Player of the Week accolade, earning the award for games played May 24 through June 2. In Parker's show against the Silver Stars she recorded a season high 27 points and career high 20 rebounds while registering her first double-double of the season. Her 20 rebounds earned her a spot in the Sparks record books for most rebounds in a game, placing her second all-time behind Lisa Leslie's 21. In addition, the 27 points against San Antonio marked her 41st game scoring 20 or more points in a contest. In the Sparks home opener, her 9 points and 7 rebounds helped lead the Sparks to a 102-69 victory over the Seattle Storm the team's largest win margin in history!

Support your Sparks and their quest to go undefeated at STAPLES Center this season when the team hosts the Tulsa Shock this Saturday, June 8 at 7:30 pm. Saturday's game will be the first against one of the WNBA's Big Three; welcoming Skylar Diggins to Los Angeles for her STAPLES Center debut. Last season, the Sparks went 2-2 against the Shock, claiming both victories at home to help capture its outstanding 16-1 home record.
