Canada picks four Storm players

CALGARY, Alberta – Calgary Storm striker Chris Lemire and midfielder Waldemar Dutra have been selected to join Canada's U-19 National team for two friendly matches against the German U-19 National Team on April 23 and 25, 2002 in Germany.

Midfielders Nikolas Ledgerwood and Ryan Gyaki have been selected to play for Canada's U-17 Team in Panama. The Canadians will play Panama's U-17 team in three friendly matches on March 20, 22 and 24.

"We are excited to see Waldo back in the National Team program after recovering from his ACL injury last year. He has worked very hard in our program since his return and has certainly earned this opportunity." "It is great to see Chris continuing his progress with the National Team program." says Thomas Niendorf, Calgary Storm president, technical director and head coach. "I glad to see these young players be given the opportunities necessary to build upon our training and play at the highest level. We will certainly be hearing from these players in the future." adds Niendorf.

The U-17 and U-19 programs were implemented from the Canadian Soccer Association's Blue Print for Success program. It continues to create excellent opportunities for young players to showcase their talents to the National Team coach .

In other news, Lars Hirschfeld, Calgary Storm and Canadian National Team Goalkeeper, began a one week trial with Tottenham Hotspur of the English Premiership Division.
