CAN-USA to Bring Back Holiday Cheer for the Less Fortunate
December 8, 2020 - Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL)
Elmira Enforcers News Release
Once again on December 24th, from noon to 2pm, CAN-USA Sports and the Enforcers players will be serving dinner and giving away warm clothing and a hot meal to help the less fortunate!
"After the success of the last two years where over 400 people were served a dinner and received new hats, gloves, coats, and other essentials it became very clear there was a need for such an event in the area and we are proud to pull it off right here at First Arena." Owner Robbie Nichols said.
CAN-USA Sports is grateful to the community for all their support in last year's effort to supply new and gently used winter clothing as well as the biggest donation of time from all the people who came in to make last year's event a success. The Enforcers along with many of their great sponsors are proud to do their part in Elmira and make warm memories for everyone during this very special time of year.We would especially like to thank Hilliard, Law Offices of Kevin P Flynn, Bouille Electric, First Transit, Hardinge, Tom's South Corning Collision, Minchin DDS Family Dentistry, Shedden's Wholesale, Treeworx, CVS Distribution, Ziff Law Firm, and Wilkins RV for their contributions to this event.
In this time of year, we love to look back, and over the years the Enforcers and Pioneers have been very active in our community. CAN-USA Sports brought the Enforcers to Elmira in 2018 and every year since we have held the help the less fortunate event on December 24th . Both the Pioneers and Enforcers have had Players visit more than 34 schools with an anti-bullying campaign, we have collected and delivered school supplies for 6 elementary schools, the players have sung Carols at Wisner Park for the tree lighting, we have been out bagging groceries at local groceries many times, participated in and sponsored local parades, collected and delivered pet food and supplies to local animal shelters, visited local hospitals to distribute stuffed animals after very successful teddy bear tosses, teamed up with local non-profits such as Glove House and the Arctic League to raise funds and awareness, rang the bell for Salvation Army for the holidays, provided the Zamboni and players, for Trucks Trucks Trucks, donated over $28,000 to local charities such as Domestic Violence, Autism Speaks, and Susan G Komen, and passed out food at local food banks. Elmira has been extremely welcoming to the Enforcers and Pioneers and during this time of year we look back fondly on these memories and can't wait to create new ones!
If someone you know is in need please tell them to stop by the 2020 Help the Less Fortunate event from 12-2pm on Thursday December 24th at the First Arena. Folks will receive coats, hats, gloves, socks, blankets, warm meal and a bag of toiletries.
