Lincoln 9, Newark 0
The Saltdogs got a gem of a performance from starting pitcher Brandon Sinnery against Newark on Friday. Sinnery struck out eight Newark batters in a complete-game two-hitter while walking just two Bears batters. The Saltdogs offense gave Sinnery support early and often, powering Lincoln to a 9-0 victory in interleague play. Leading the way offensively, Linconl 1B Jimmy Rohan went a perfect 4-for-4 with a run and a game-high three RBI. Rohan was joined by three Lincoln batters in the multi-hit club, including RF Matt Forgatch, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI in his first appearance in a Saltdogs uniform.
New Jersey 5, Rockland 2
Jackals 2B Angel Berroa hit a three-run homer in the top of the first inning against Rockland on Friday as New Jersey cruised to a 5-2 victory. The Jackals led by at least two runs the whole way, holding a 5-1 advantage between the third and ninth innings. At the plate for the Boulders, Ryan Mollica hit his 10th home run of the year in the second inning. Mollica went 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI while scoring both of the Boulders' runs. Starting New Jersey pitcher Kyle Greenwalt earned his eighth win of 2012 after throwing six innings and allowing just one run on five hits with four strikeouts. Greenwalt's ERA now sits at 3.73, good for fifth in the Can-Am League.
Quebec 9, Worcester 1
Capitales pitching worked its way around nine Worcester hits and allowed just one run in Quebec's 9-1 triumph over the Tornadoes. Starting Quebec hurler Jeff Duda threw the first six innings, averaging one hit and one strikeout per frame while shutting out Worcester and lowering his ERA to a league-best 2.06. The Capitales got at least one hit from everyone in their lineup, with five men registering two base knocks apiece. Quebec LF Josh Garton hit his first triple of 2012, scored twice and drove in two runs to punctuate his 2-for-3 night that also included a ninth-inning walk. Tornadoes leadoff CF Jerod Edmondson did his job, going 3-for-4 and hitting his 28th two-bagger of the season. Outside of Edmondson and fellow three-hit man DH Alex Nunez, however, the Tornadoes managed just three hits and couldn't catch up with the hot-hitting Capitales.
