Quebec 8, Newark 2 (Game 1 - 7 innigns)

Starting Quebec pitcher Bryan Rembisz pitched five solid innings, allowing only four hits and two earned runs with a pair of walks and three strikeouts, leading the Capitales to an 8-2 Game 1 win over the homestanding Newark Bears. Rembisz lowered his ERA to 4.5 and is now 1-0 in two starts this season. Offensively, the Capitales got quite a bit of production from the top of the lineup, with the one through three hitters accounting for five hits, four runs and three RBI. Not to be outdone, seven-hole hitter Paul Karmas hit his second home run of the year, a two-run shot in Quebec's five-run third inning. It was Karmas' only hit of the game. Bears 2B Juan Martinez also hit a four-bagger, going 1-for-3 on the night.

Quebec 5, Newark 2 (Game 2 - 7 innings)

Capitales LF Robert Wagner picked up the difficult half of the cycle in Game 2, hitting his first triple and first home run of the season, going 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI in Quebec's 5-2 win over Newark. Wagner raised his season average to .333. No other Capitales slugger had more than one hit. Bears 3B Burt Reynolds, however, also picked up a pair of base knocks, his of the one-bag variety, going 2-for-3 on the night. Starting Capitales pitcher Karl Gelinas threw five innings of ball, allowing two runs and striking out three Newark batters while picking up his second win of the season in as many starts.

Rockland 6, Worcester 4

Despite seeing their first 19 batters retired by Tornadoes starting pitcher Ryan Bicondoa and trailing, 4-0, in the seventh inning, the Boulders never gave up, rallying to win, 6-4. Rockland registered seven hits in their final two innings at the plate, with Todd Gossage's eighth inning-opening solo homer giving the Boulders their first lead of the game. It was Gossage's only hit of the evening. Neither starting pitcher factored in the decision, as Bicondoa's impressive start went for naught, as he allowed three runs on four hits in 6.2 innings. The win went to Rockland reliever Garrett Johnson, who threw the seventh and eighth innings for his club and struck out three batters while allowing only one hit.

Lincoln 14, New Jersey 13

In a game never lacking for edge-of-your-seat-inducing moments, the Saltdogs defeated New Jersey in walk-off fashion, 14-13. 1B John Alonso singled in pinch runner Brad Payne and 3B Leivi Ventura, turning a 13-12, two-out deficit into a one-run win. Alonso had a game-high five RBI on his 2-for-6 night. The Saltdogs led by as many as eight runs early. But a seven-run Jackals fourth nearly evened up the game, and neither team led by more than two runs from that point on. Two Jackals - SS Angel Berroa and 3B Nick Giarraputo - hit homers in the contest, but were outdone by four round-trippers from the Saltdogs. Two of those Lincoln homers came off Ventura's bat. The third basement went 2-for-4 with four runs and three RBI.
