Pittsfield 11, New York 3
The Pittsfield Colonials used a six-run fourth inning to take an 11-3 win over the New York Federals. Colonials 3B Johnny Welch went a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate, hit two homers and batted in five runs in the game. Welch's first home run of the game, a solo shot in the bottom of the first, gave Pittsfield the early lead. Welch singled in a run in the bottom of the third, and then belted a three-run homer as part of the Colonials' six-run fourth inning. Also for Pittsfield, CF Jerod Edmondson and C Scott Knazek each went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Colonials starting pitcher Tim Stronach earned the win, pitching five innings and allowing one run on five hits. For the Federals, 1B Tom Maloney had a hit, an RBI and a run scored in the loss.
Quebec 8, Worcester 7
Down to their last three outs, the Quebec Capitales rallied for four runs in the bottom of the ninth to earn an 8-7 comeback win against the Worcester Tornadoes. Quebec held a 4-2 lead after six innings played, but Worcester rallied for five runs in the top of the seventh to take a 7-4 lead. In the inning, Tornadoes DH Nick Salotti hit a solo homer, 3B Mark Minicozzi batted in two runs and C Alex Trezza and 1B Chris Colabello each hit RBI singles. In the bottom of the ninth, Quebec RF Sebastien Boucher hit a two-RBI single, and SS Jeff Helps also scored on an error to tie the game. Boucher then came around to score the winning run on C Patrick D'Aoust's single.
Rockland 8, Newark 7
Rockland scored two runs in the fifth and two more in the seventh to survive a six-run Newark inning and earn an 8-7 come-from-behind win. The visiting Boulders started the game well, scoring three runs in the top of the first. In the inning, DH Ryan Mollica hit an RBI double, RF Barry Wesson belted a solo home run and 1B Cristobal Santana singled in a run. The Bears plated six runs in the bottom of the third to claim 7-4 lead. In the inning, Bears 2B Ryan Walsh and SS Chase Fontaine each hit two-RBI doubles, CF Danny Santiesteban doubled in a run and 1B Tyler Benzel singled in a run. Rockland responded with two runs in the fifth and two runs in the seventh to take the lead. Boulders 2B Cole Kraft batted in two of Rockland's final four runs in the game and finished the game with three RBI. Boulders reliever John Muller was credited with the win for his four innings worked in relief, and closer Adrian Martin worked a 1-2-3 ninth to earn the save.
Brockton 10, New Jersey 6
The Brockton Rox used two big innings to defeat New Jersey 10-6 at Campanelli Stadium. The Jackals scored three runs in the top of the fourth to take a 4-2 lead, but the lead was short-lived because the Rox responded with four runs in the bottom of the fourth to retake the lead. Brockton used a three-run sixth inning to expand their lead to 9-4. Rox CF Chris Valencia went 4-for-5 at the plate with two RBI and a run scored, and DH Phillip Cuadrado had a hit and batted in three runs. Also for Brockton, 2B Shawn Williams went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Rox reliever Jimmer Kennedy worked three scoreless innings to earn the win. For the Jackals, RF Bryan Sabatella went 4-for-5 with three RBI in the loss.
