Can-Am League Recaps

June 3, 2013 - Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release

Trois-Rivieres 8, Newark 2

The Trois-Rivieres Aigles handled the Newark Bears 8-2 thanks in large part to a sixth inning grand slam by LF Jeremy Nowak. Nowak's blast came after SS Rob Cooper singled home C Emerson Frostad and the five run inning put the Aigles out in front by five. Nowak was 2-for-5 in the game and RF Steve Brown was also impressive at the plate going 3-for-5 - two of which were home runs - with three RBI and a pair of runs scored. For the Bears, both SS Bridger Hunt and RF Carlos Guzman were 2-for-4. Starter Jeff Shields picked up the win for his six inning start in which he allowed two runs, both earned and struck out six.

St. Paul, 8, Rockland 5

The St. Paul Saints climbed out of a 4-2 hole with back-to-back three run innings and went on to top the Rockland Boulders 8-5. The Saints trailed by two runs going into the top of the seventh inning when they turned on the jets. 2B Brad Boyer started things in the seventh with a single that brought home a pair of runs. After advancing on a balk, Boyer scored in the next at bat when 1B Craig Brazell singled. The Saints put the game out of reach in the eighth with an RBI single from C Dwight Childs and a two-run homerun by SS Adam Frost. Frost and Brazell both registered a game-high three hits.
