Brockton 5, Pittsfield 3

A four-run second capped by CF Chris Valencia's two-run triple propelled Brockton past Pittsfield 5-3. 1B Melvin Falu had three hits in four tries for the Rox, and C Chris Grossman homered and doubled as part of a 2-for-3 night. Brockton RHP Mike Smith picked up his fifth win in his last six starts to improve to 9-3 with a 2.99 ERA on the season. His nine wins lead the Can-Am League, while he sits third on the ERA leaderboard. RF Daniel Carte scored all three runs for the Colonials, and DH Angel Molina went 3-for-5 with two RBI.

New Jersey 6, Worcester 5

An unearned run for New Jersey broke a 5-5 tie in the top of the ninth as the Jackals held on to beat Worcester 6-5. RHP Edward Rodriguez picked up his fourth win of the season with three one-hit innings of relief. 2B Travis Jones hit his second home run of the year to get New Jersey on the board in the top of the third. SS Mike DeJesus contributed a two-run double in the following inning, and C Angel Flores had a two-hit night. CF Danny Santiesteban slugged a fifth-inning three-run homer for the Tornadoes in the loss.

Quebec 6, Sussex 4

3B Michael Thompson gave Quebec a first-inning lead they wouldn't surrender with a three-run home run as the Capitales knocked off the Skyhawks 6-4. DH Jeremy Hunt added two RBI for Quebec, and lefty closer Andrew Albers picked up his eleventh save with a scoreless ninth, lowering his ERA to 0.82. 1B Marc Mimeault went for 1-for-2 with a double, an RBI, and two walks for Quebec out of the nine spot. 3B Nick Giarraputo had two hits for Sussex in the losing effort.
