Published on July 9, 2010 under Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release
Brockton 11, Worcester 7
Brockton's offense jumped out to an 8-1 lead, and got big nights from CF Chris Valencia and 1B Melvin Falu to throttle Worcester 11-7. The Rox scored five in the second, capped by a two-run homer from Falu, his sixth of the season. Valencia, who finished the night 4-for-5 with four RBI, added a two-run shot in the top of the seventh inning to extend the lead to seven runs. Brockton starter Mike Smith allowed just two runs in seven innings, and although the bullpen allowed five runs in the eighth, the lead held up.
Sussex 9, Pittsfield 8
Down a run heading to the bottom of the ninth, the Skyhawks managed to push across two runs in the final frame to beat Pittsfield 9-8 in walk off fashion. Both ninth inning relievers were saddled with the decisions. Sussex's Jared Locke looked to be on the hook for the loss, but ended up earning his fourth win, and Pittsfield's Reymond Cruz allowed two runs and picked up his first loss. In the loss, RF Daniel Carte tallied three hits and four RBI.
New Jersey at Quebec (Postponed - Rain)
This game was postponed due to rain. The game will be played as part of a doubleheader beginning at 5:05 pm on Saturday, July 10. Both games will be seven innings.
