Sussex County 4, Quebec 1 - Box Score
Sussex County finished off the three-game sweep of Quebec as they downed the Capitales by the score of 4-1 at Stade Canac.
The Miners received a terrific performance on the mound from starting pitcher David Palladino. The righty tossed seven solid innings allowing an earned run on three hits with a walk and six strikeouts. Palladino notched the victory and is now 6-2 on the year.
Offensively for the Miners, C Tyler Clark led the way at the plate going 1-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and an RBI. Sussex County 1B Audy Ciriaco also added a blast in four at-bats along with two RBIs while CF Breland Almadova, 2B Trey Hair and DH Nick Zaharion each collected a pair of hits. In total, the Miners had 12 hits on the day.
For Quebec in the losing effort, DH Jhalan Jackson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run.
Ottawa 9, New Jersey 3 - Box Score
Ottawa jumped out to an early 4-0 lead through 1 ½ innings of play and would go on from there to defeat New Jersey by the final of 9-3.
The Champions had 10 hits in the contest with eight batters picking-up at least one. Ottawa 1B/2B Leonardo Reginatto led the way offensively going 2-for-4 with three runs scored. Champions 3B/LF Malik Collymore had two hits in four at-bats along with a run scored while RF Adron Chambers contributed a base hit and drove in a pair of runs. Collymore also chipped in his 46th stolen base which is five behind the league's all-time record of 51 set by Breland Almadova of Sussex County last season.
Ottawa starting pitcher Jared Mortensen allowed two earned runs over seven innings of work and earned the win. The 31-year-old gave up three walks and seven hits while fanning three batters in a 117-pitch outing. With the victory, Mortensen evened his record at 7-7 on the year.
Trois-Rivieres 8, Rockland 1 - Box Score
Trois-Rivieres rolled out to a 4-0 lead after four innings of play and would coast from there to an 8-1 victory over Rockland. With the victory, the Aigles took two of three in the series and remain four games behind Sussex County in the race for first in the Can-Am League.
There were 13 hits collected by Trois-Rivieres with four batters having multi-hit games. Aigles LF Alberth Martinez led all hitters as he went 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs. Trois-Rivieres 1B Juan Kelly and RF Raphael Gladu each had two-hit games with a run scored while 2B David Glaude added a home run, his 11th of the season, and two RBIs.
Aigles starting pitcher Garrett Harris threw six solid innings and collected his ninth win of the season. Harris gave up an earned run on five hits with a pair of walks and eight punchouts.
First baseman Matt Oberste had a 2-for-4 night with a double and a run scored in the loss for the Boulders.
