New Jersey 3, Quebec 2 (8 Innings/Game 1) - Box Score
Second basemen Nelson Ward singled home SS Santiago Chirino with the game winning run in the eighth inning as New Jersey defeated Quebec, 3-2 in game one of a doubleheader.
Chirino started off the eighth by advancing to second base. The next batter, 1B Conrad Gregor, flew out to left field for the first out of the inning. Left fielder Alfredo Marte followed Gregor and was intentionally walked to put runners at first and second. Ward next stepped to the plate and picked-up the game winning base hit to score Chirino and win the game for the Jackals.
New Jersey CF Jay Gonzalez led the way offensively going 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Chirino collected a pair of hits in four at-bats and a run while Gregor drove in two runs in a 1-for-4 night.
Jackals pitcher Dylan Brammer tossed 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to notch the victory. The Northwest Ohio product gave up three walks and struck out two in the seven batters he faced. With the win, Brammer is now 1-1 on the year.
New Jersey 12, Quebec 4 (7 Innings/Game 2) - Box Score
New Jersey completed the doubleheader sweep of Quebec as they rolled past the Capitales in game two by a 12-4 final.
The Jackals pounded out 12 hits in the contest with four batters contributing multi-hit games. New Jersey RF Sthervin Matos led the way going 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and four RBIs. Jackals CF/LF Alfredo Marte also drove in four runs in a 2-for-3 game while CF/LF Emilio Guerrero had two hits in four at-bats along with scoring a pair of runs.
New Jersey scored six runs apiece in both the second and fifth innings.
Jackals reliever Reece Karalus tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings and picked-up the win. The righty allowed only a walk in the five batters he faced. Karalus is now 4-1 on the 2019 season.
For Quebec in the losing cause, RF Rian Kiniry had a 2-for-4 outing with a home run and two RBIs.
