Sussex County 3, Rockland 2 (11 Innings) - Box Score
Third baseman Jarred Mederos singled home 1B Audy Ciriaco with the game winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning as Sussex County defeated Rockland in a walk-off, 3-2.
Ciriaco would start off the 11th inning at second base. The next batter, DH/LF Jose Brizuela, was intentionally walked and took first base. With runners on first and second base and no one out, Mederos came up to the plate and got the big hit that scored Ciriaco and gave the Miners the win.
Brizuela and Ciriaco each collected a hit and a run while CF Brandon Downes had a 2-for-3 night with a run and an RBI.
Sussex County pitcher James Campbell tossed two scoreless innings of relief and picked up the victory. The 27-year-old allowed two walks and struck out two batters in the eight batters he faced. Campbell is now 1-0 on the year.
Boulders 1B/3B Matt Oberste had a 3-for-5 night with a run scored in the loss.
Trois-Rivieres 6, Ottawa 5 - Box Score
Trois-Rivieres scored three runs in the fourth inning to overtake an early 5-3 deficit and beat Ottawa by the score of 6-5.
The Aigles tallied only two hits in the contest but were issued 12 walks by Champions pitching. Trois-Rivieres 2B David Glaude led the way at the plate going 1-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Aigles C Joe Deluca had a double and three walks in a 1-for-1 day while 3B Taylor Brennan collected two RBIs and a walk.
Trois-Rivieres starting pitcher Colby Morris tossed five innings and notched the victory. The righty allowed five earned runs on eight hits with a walk and two strikeouts. With the win, Morris is now 2-0 on the season.
For Ottawa in the loss, SS Malik Collymore had a perfect 4-for-4 outing with a run scored.
Shikoku Island 8, Quebec 5 - Box Score
After three scoreless innings of action, Shikoku Island took control as they scored eight runs over the next three and rolled to an 8-5 victory over Quebec.
The All-Stars had 11 hits in the contest and was led by the 1-2-3 hitters of CF/SS Kishi Junichiro, 3B Nakamura Michitaro and 2B Hirama Hayato. The trio combined to go 7-for-13 at the plate with six runs scored (including a Junichiro home run) and five RBIs. Along with those three, C Yokomizo Takuya collected three RBIs and CF/RF Shirakata Katsuya picked-up a hit and scored two runs.
Shikoku Island starting pitcher Shodi Itsuki threw a complete game in taking home the victory. The southpaw gave up four earned runs on seven hits and struck out a batter. Itsuki is now 1-0 on the Can-Am League tour.
Second baseman Brandon Fischer had a 2-for-3 night with a run scored in the loss for the Capitales.
New Jersey 11, Cuba 6 - Box Score
New Jersey jumped out to a 5-2 lead after three innings of play and would cruise from there to an 11-6 win over the Cuban National Team.
The Jackals banged out 16 hits in the contest with eight of the nine batters recording at least one. New Jersey 1B Conrad Gregor had a monster game at the plate going a perfect 4-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and three RBIs. The Vanderbilt product was one double away of hitting for the cycle. Along with Gregor, SS Santiago Chirino had three hits in five at-bats along with three runs and an RBI while LF Alfredo Marte collected a pair of doubles and two runs batted in.
New Jersey starter Matt Vogel threw six innings and picked-up the win. The righty allowed four earned runs on six hits and fanned eight batters.
Designated hitter Yosvany Alacorn had a 2-for-4 night at the dish with two RBIs in the loss for Cuba.
