Sussex County 5, New Jersey 3

Sussex County LF Connor Crane hit a two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a 3-3 tie and beat New Jersey by a 5-3 score.

The Jackals jumped out in front 2-0 in the top of the first inning on two RBI singles by 1B Dean Green and 3B Seth Spivey. The Miners would come right back and cut the lead in half in the bottom of the first on a solo home run by 1B Audy Ciriaco. The score would remain that way until the seventh when C Kevin Torres singled home DH Daniel Canela from second base to make it 3-1 New Jersey. After that it was all Sussex County as CF Jayce Ray hit a two-run single in the seventh to tie the contest at 3-3 and then Crane's single in the eighth gave the Miners the lead for good.

Crane went 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI while 2B Rubi Silva had a pair of hits in four at-bats and scored a run.

Miners pitcher Alex Demchak tossed two scoreless innings of relief to notch the win. Demchak gave up a walk and four hits to go along with a strikeout in the 10 batters he faced. The lefty is now 1-0 on the year.

Ottawa 8, Rockland 3

Ottawa jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings of play and would cruise from there to an 8-3 victory over Rockland.

The Champions banged out 14 hits in the contest with every batter in the lineup collecting at least one. Ottawa SS and Player of the Week Daniel Bick went 4-for-6 with a triple, a run scored and three RBIs while DH Sebastien Boucher scored a pair of runs and drove in one in a 2-for-4 night. Right fielder Steve Brown also chipped in his fourth home run on the season, a two-run shot in the first inning.

Starting pitcher Edilson Alvarez picked up his first victory of the season with the Champions.

For Rockland in the losing effort, 2B Jared McDonald went 1-for-3 with two runs scored.
