Quebec 7, Ottawa 5 (Game 1 - 7 Innings)
Quebec tallied three runs in the top of the sixth inning to break a 4-4 tie and defeat Ottawa, 7-5 in game one of a doubleheader. The Capitales were led offensively by the 8-9-1 hitters of 3B Josh Vitters, DH Edgar Lebron and RF Stephen Gaylor. The trio combined to go 7-for-10 at the plate with three runs scored and five RBI. Vitters also chipped in a home run, his first of the season.
Starting pitcher Ryan Searle threw 5 1/3 innings and notched the victory for Quebec. Searle gave up four earned runs on seven hits with a pair of walks and four strikeouts. The 28-year-old is now 3-1 on the season.
For Ottawa, RF Sebastien Boucher went 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI.
Ottawa 4, Quebec 1 (Game 2 - 7 Innings)
Ottawa gained a split in the twinbill as the Champions scored three runs in the sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie and beat Quebec by a 4-1 score. The Capitales jumped out on top 1-0 in the top of the second when 2B Maxx Tissenbaum doubled home SS Jordan Serena. Ottawa tied the contest up at 1-1 in the fifth as 2B Tyler Nordgren scored on an RBI triple from SS Kyle Zirbes. The tie did not last for long as the Champions went ahead for good in the sixth tallying the three runs of a single, a sacrifice fly and a squeeze bunt.
Third baseman Jordan Caillouet went 2-for-3 with a run batted in for Ottawa.
Champions starter Austin Chrismon tossed six solid innings in picking up his second victory of the year. Chrismon allowed an earned run on three hits and struck out a batter.
