New Jersey 8, Worcester 7
Jackals DH Nick Salotti hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to beat his former Worcester Tornadoes teammates, 8-7. New Jersey entered the inning down 7-6 and was down to its final out with Francisco Caraballo on first. Then, on a 1-0 pitch, Salotti hammered a Nick Serino delivery over the wall. Salotti's second homer as a Jackal gave New Jersey an exciting comeback win, as Keith Cantwell nailed down the save in the bottom half of the inning.
The home run was not Salotti's only contribution. He finished the afternoon 3-for-4 with three RBI. RF Carlos Guzman and CF Chris Curran were also instrumental in the win. Guzman hit a three run home run and Curran went 3-for-5. LHP Jeff Gogal got the win in a two-inning relief appearance.
Rockland 5, Newark 1
Rockland RHP Will Hassett threw well for the Boulders to beat the Bears, 5-1 and earn his first win of the year. The right-hander received early run support when a sac fly by 3B Phillip Cuadrado plated the game's first run in the opening inning. Rockland added a pair more in the sixth and tacked on two extra runs later to win the ballgame and the series against the Bears.
