Can-Am League Game Recaps
June 20, 2012 - Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release
Rockland 5, Grand Prairie 4
Either trailing or holding a tie for the entire game, the Boulders put SS Matt Nandin in the batter's box in the ninth with a chance to go on top and win the game. With LF Jon Smith on second thanks to an inning-opening double, Nandin got his only hit of the game to push across Smith for the victory. Nandin went 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. The AirHogs opened the first inning with three straight hits and jumped on top, 3-0, after one. But a persistent approach at the plate kept Rockland in the game, eventually paying off with Nandin's walk-off single.
Boulders 2B Cole Kraft was one of just two Rokland players with multiple hits, going 2-for-3, hitting his fourth double of the year and scoring one run. For Grand Prairie, 2B Bryan Frichter went 2-for-4 while batting in one and scoring another of the AirHogs' three runs in the opening frame.
Quebec 14, Worcester 3
Already leading 6-3, the Capitales put eight runs on the board in the eighth inning to secure an impressive, 14-3 victory over Worcester. The Capitales scored five runs early, holding a 5-0 lead after three innings. Five Quebec batters had at least two hits with CF Sebastien Boucher going 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Boucher led all players in hits and now has 28 RBI on the year. Joining Boucher in the two-RBI club, Quebec RF Steve Brown went 2-for-4.
The Tornadoes got a two-run homer from DH Nick Salotti in the seventh inning, Salotti's seventh bomb of the year and his only hit of the game. The blast made the score 5-2 in favor of the Capitales. But the big eighth from Quebec put the game out of reach.
